Today, loved-up couples in Orange are set to lap up the Valentine’s Day festivities like never before, with cupid’s arrow hitting the city hard.
On top of the hundreds of deliveries expected to take place around the city, one lucky lady will receive 36 roses, a bottle of champagne, a large box of chocolates and a teddy bear from her beau.
With orders flooding in since the beginning of February, Classic Country Rose owner Sheryl Lewis said you can expect to see plenty of red out and about this Valentine’s Day.
“Roses, roses and roses,” she smiled.
“Teddy bears and balloons are also popular but this year it’s definitely roses.”
The Classic Country Rose florist said today’s festivities, in some cases, were simply about giving loved ones a pick me up.
“I just think everyone’s been doing it a bit tough lately,” she said.
Caught up in easily the busiest time of year for any florist, the team at Classic Country Rose will have five delivery vans complete a total of 200 deliveries in Orange today.
There will also be five florists in the store.
Ms Lewis describes yesterday’s preparations as hectic, but in no uncertain terms knows nothing will compare to just how busy today will be.
“It’s going to be bedlam,” she said.
“It really will be.”
However, it is not just flowers and chocolates on people’s minds this Valentine’s Day.
Regency Jewellers’ Lyn Rodd said both men and women had been in throughout the week to pick up something special for their loved one, with some men set to use Valentine’s Day as the perfect opportunity to pop the big question.
“The girls might buy bracelets or necklaces for (their partners),” she said.
“Heart-style jewellery is also popular ... it’s also a good time to pop the question.”
