It stores around $2 million worth of parts.
Maintenance supervisor Don Hodgins said the main advantage of the new store was having all spare parts in one location which minimised plant and equipment downtime. Identifying and accessing parts is also much easier and quicker.
“Stock levels are controlled through the database system, also giving a detailed report of spares’ history, ability to document and report on the dollar value of stock on hand and report on where the parts have been issues and used,” he said.
Mr Hodgins said it also helped when reordering parts.
Postal service expands
ORANGE West Community Postal Agency now has 70 post office boxes.
Stephen Parker, who owns the agency with his wife Lea at the Greengate Shopping Centre, said the boxes would complement his existing postal services.
“We wanted to provide a service to people on this side of town,” he said.
Mr Parker said since opening in November 70 per cent of the boxes had already been taken.
