TO get right into things, let’s check out the Wednesday 6.30pm autostyle league, where we find that the star bowler was Peter Selwood from Johnnie Gold with 136 over average for the series.
The next league we have a squiz at is the Monday 7.30pm doubles, where Joanna Bray, who was representing Jo and Liz, was the star bowler after scoring 117 over average for the series.
And finally for this week there’s the Mr Shoemaker Friday 6pm league, which gave us Andrew Burke from Mates 4 Ever as star bowler with 101 over average for the series.
Now, all you Einsteins out there will have already calculated that the star bowler of the week and winner of the auto wash, compliments of Pete’s Car Wash, was Peter Selwood, who blitzed the lanes with that 136 over average for the series.
There was a high roller champion this week and this was Luke Cooper, who scored his first perfect game of 300 during the Country Championships conducted recently in Orange.
But there were a few others having a bit of a go and these included such well-known bowlers as Jason Brown 213, Tony Agland 202, Peter Selwood 230, Aldo Belmonte 247, Marilyn Schwenke 201, Sharon Clark 244, Nick Agland 231, Rod Ostini 217, Michael Quinlan 212, Jason Osborne 257, Ron Forbes 247, Ross Southwell 230, Chris Lees 229 and Jason Drew 201.
Just like last week there was no almost made it hero, so once again the open order from Mackie’s Cafe has not found a loving home, but also like last week there were several doing their level best to appease their hunger pains.
Among these were Amanda Chamberlain 184, June Graham 186, Mitchell Maker 156, adult Chris Brown 154, Edith Gowing 163, Ray Chamberlain 142, Michael Burke 177, David Hayward 196, Ray Clark 169, Dianne Gee 192, John Smith 172, James Hammond 185 and Henry Phillips a brace of well-earned 161s.
The female of note for the week and second contender for February’s monthly prize of a gift certificate from MJ’s All Hair - All Occasions was previously mentioned Sharon Clark, who scored that comfortable 244.
There was no junior of the week so the McDonalds award has no name upon it, but we do have a winner for our encouragement award, the Video Ezy voucher, and this was claimed by Amanda Chamberlain, whose score of 184 just happened to be 66 over average.
Before I sign off, I would like to take this opportunity to have a quiet word with you all. If by chance you’re looking for a lot of fun and a chance to socialise, why not take up tenpin bowling? I happen to know of at least two leagues that would welcome new bowlers with open arms. Both are doubles leagues and both have a lot of fun.
You don’t have to be a good bowler, in fact, it wouldn’t matter if you’ve never bowled before. It won’t take you long to learn, but then, as I hinted, does it really matter? Those leagues? Well, there’s the Monday 6.30pm doubles and the Wednesday 7.30pm doubles. Both will cost $20 for three games, part of which is money put aside for prizes at the end of the league, so if you’re interested in joining in (and they’d be real interested in having you), call the centre or turn up in person and get yourself involved.
