CABONNE United is well on their way to fielding a competitive side in Group 11 next year with the club announcing the signing of former representative players.
The team to be known as the Kangaroos have signed experienced duo Steve and Trent Morgan and big man Darren Toomey on top of earlier recruits William Kennedy and Steve Lane.
All five played for Manildra last season and have followed their club after they decided to merge with Molong for the 2007 season.
The Kangaroos will have a formidable centre pairing with Trent Morgan a former Western Division representative and Group 11 top try scorer in 2005.
Kennedy has played in the NRL and was Group 10 top try scorer before his move from Bathurst Panthers and will also play centre.
Lane and Steve Morgan were the Manildra halves combination last season and look set to continue their partnership steering around the newest Group 11 team.
Steve Morgan was captain-coach of Manildra last season but will now just play half-back with former Orange Hawks under 18 coach Dean Saddler named inaugural coach.
Cabonne United committee member Ross Yelland is happy with how the merged club is taking shape.
"There is a lot of nitty-gritty that has to be sorted out but everything is going well," Yelland said. "We've certainly got to sort out all of our sponsors now."
The joint venture is having a player sign-on day on December 17 where Yelland is hopeful any existing Manildra or Molong players will commit to the new club.
The Kangaroos have also appointed Josh Leigh as reserve grade coach with the under 18 position still to be filled.
Cabonne's playing strip will be predominantly green and gold with white and a navy blue collar.
