ORANGE CYMS are given approval to host the Group 10 grand final at Endeavour Oval.
The league club has been using Orange Emus Rugby Union Club’s home ground during the 2011 season following the botched Wade Park resurfacing.
September 5: Lions fall short
ORANGE City miss out on a place in the 2011 Blowes Menswear Cup grand final when they lose the preliminary final to eventual winner Parkes 20-13. It is the first time Parkes has earned a place in the top grade decider.
September 5: Cargo win at home
CARGO take out the 2011 Woodbridge Cup by downing Canowindra 37-24. The match is watched by more than 2000 spectators, with the Continuous Call Team calling the game.
September 6: Sweet sixteen
ORANGE wins a 16th consecutive Central West State League division one title. The Orange (1) side easily accounts for Bathurst 70-28 in the grand final.
September 10: Wighton raids awards
ORANGE’S Jack Wighton cleans up at the Canberra Raiders awards night. He is named the club’s Toyota Cup player of the year and also takes home the Gordon McLucas Memorial Award for junior representative player of the year.
September 12: CYMS win grand final
ORANGE CYMS win back-to-back Group 10 premierships under the guidance of captain-coach Mick Sullivan when they down Lithgow Workies 30-12 in the grand final. Pat Gibson is awarded the Dave Scott Medal for man of the match. CYMS lose the first division decider to Bathurst Panthers 26-18 and the under 18s grand final to Panthers 28-12.
September 12: Emus take premiership
ORANGE Emus win the Blowes Menswear Cup third grade title when they down Bathurst Bulldogs 24-10 in the grand final.
September 13: Hattersley best in 2011
ORANGE Emus captain Al Hattersley is named the Central West Rugby Union player of the year.
September 13: Joeys nets success
ST JOSEPH’S Primary School wins the NSW Catholic Primary Schools State Netball Championship. The Year 6 team demolished their rivals to go through their eight games undefeated and conceded just six goals.
September 14: April’s rich reward
APRIL Rich wins three gold medals at the NSW Combined High Schools athletics championships. The Canobolas Rural Technology High students takes out the 12 years girls’ 100m, 200m and long jump.
September 14: Harding best whistle-blower
ORANGE’S Dale Harding is named the Central West Rugby Union referee of the year.
September 16: Middo calls it a day
NETBALL coach Lynne Middleton confirms she will retire at the end of the 2011 season. The High A mentor has had an amazing career which included guiding the Orange High team to the NSW Combined High Schools knockout titles in 1995 and 1996.
September 16: Silver lining for OHS hockey
ORANGE High take out second place in the NSW CHS girls’ hockey knockout when they lose the final 6-3 to Lithgow High.
September 19: Robin Hood bags fourth title
ROBIN Hood win a fourth straight Orange Netball Association division one title when they beat Westoil 36-35 in the grand final.
September 21: Olivia’s golden moment
ORANGE High’s Olivia Patterson helps NSW Combined High Schools to a gold medal at the National Youth Touch Football Championship. NSW beat Queensland Secondary Schools Touch 6-5 in the final.
September 22: Jemima’s multi-talented
KINROSS Wolaroi School’s Jemima McCalman brings home two medals from the School Sport Australia athletics championships. She wins silver in the multi event and bronze in the 800m medley relay.
September 22: Orange City boosts numbers
THE Orange District Cricket Association first grade competition will have six teams in the 2011-12 season after Orange City confirm they will field two teams.
