HEAVY rain made for some exciting racing during the Orange Kart Club’s recent meeting.
The wet weather forced officials to close the hairpin for the finals due to safety concerns.
This made the track shorter but competitors still turned on some great racing.
Visiting competitors pushed the Orange karters in the junior divisions.
Dubbo’s Luke Wrigley took out the midgets class ahead of Orange’s Jett Bennett and Michael Selmes.
North Shore’s Gus Flynn claimed the honours in the rookies after he edged out Orange’s Nathan Neuenhaus.
It was North Shore at the top again in the junior national light class with Dean Cornish winning ahead of Orange’s Tom Wiltshire and Alexander Williamson.
North Shore’s Lachlan O’Brien won the junior national heavy class.
Visitors dominated the clubman class with Dubbo’s Michael O’Brien and John Monaghan first and third respectively and North Shore’s Colin Pitt second.
Orange drivers set the standard in the senior national classes with Bree Gowland and Kyle Bush finishing one-two in the light division.
Terry Selwood finished on top in the senior national heavy class with Peter Hanlon second and Wayne Ogilvie third.
Rotax light was a father-son affair with Orange’s Brett Mahlo edging out his son, Lindsay.
It was all Dubbo in the Tag restricted class with Peter Whale first, Mathew Whale second and Daniel Jones third.
The Orange Kart Club’s next race meeting will be held on April 11 at the raceway on Perc Griffin Way.
