JAMES Sheahan will equal the schools previous best performance in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges open boys soccer knock-out when they play in Thursday's semi-final.
Sheahan made the knock-out semi-finals in 2005 but the team has changed significantly since then.
The Orange school won through to Thursday's game when they defeated St Dominic's Penrith 1-0 in extra time last week.
Dom Aldis toed in a goal when the Penrith 'keeper saved a shot and knocked the ball to the ground.
James Sheahan coach Greg Pell said he side has been in good form all through the competition.
"The boys are playing well so they're a possibility."
In the Bathurst Diocesan gala day James Sheahan defeated St John's Dubbo 2-1, La Salle Lithgow 8-0 and Red Bend Forbes 11-0.
In the round of 16 match James Sheahan had a strong 7-0 win over Marian College Griffith before last week's quarter-final victory.
Pell said there is a good reason his side has been performing so well.
"They play as a team," he said. "They pass the ball around well, there's lots of movement off the ball and they talk a lot.
"There's a mix from Waratahs, Canobolas Rangers and Bathurst ‘75. There's a few combinations in there. They're really hitting their straps now."
James Sheahan was defeated in the quarter-finals last year and Pell is hopefully his side could win through to the grand final.
"The boys are playing well so they're a possibility," he said.
James Sheahan will take on Christian Brothers Lewisham at 1pm on Thursday in Sydney.
