Mrs Wills and her husband John have five of the devices dotted around the yard of their Lewis Ponds home.
“We bought three about a year ago, and have just ordered some more,” Mrs Wills said.
With each device worth just under $50, Mrs Wills said she didn’t mind spending the money if it kept snakes away from their house and pets.
“We’ve had a few black and brown snakes in the yard and on the verandah,” she said.
“In the past we’ve lost some good dogs and cats to snakes.
“We’ve gone to work and come home and they’ve been dead.”
Mrs Wills said while some people were sceptical about the vibrating snake repellent’s success rates, since getting the devices she’d noticed a decline in snake activity around the house and felt more comfortable knowing her miniature horses, show dogs, cats, sheep and cattle were protected.
Two snake repellent sales companies told the Central Western Daily that their products were in high demand in the central west.
The snake repellents work by emitting a noise and vibration that the manufacturers claim makes a snake perceive danger and evacuate the area immediately.
