Tonight’s Orange City Council community barbecue in Robertson Park is guaranteed to be a festive event.
It will coincide with the launch of the Orange Christmas Street Party and include the inaugural Christmas tree lighting and a visit from Santa Claus, who will be driven down Summer Street in a special vehicle, arriving at around 7.30pm.

“It will be a great family night,” Orange City Council special project officer Jennifer Derrick said.
The event will mark the end of the 150 years of local government celebrations and acknowledge the people involved with Ophir Gold 2000.
The barbecue will begin at 6pm, with all donations going towards kidney health.
The Christmas tree will be lit at 8pm.
This year’s Christmas Street Party will be held on December 10 and is being jointly organised by Taste Orange and the Orange Business Chamber, after being granted the tender by Orange City Council.
A highlight of this year’s Christmas in Orange campaign has been the creation of a new logo and promotional material, inspired by the winning designs of Bletchington Public School students Grace Khattar and Tiffany Clancey.
Street banners, posters and ribbons featuring the new design will be seen throughout the Orange central business district between now and the new year.
“We hope the Orange community will embrace the magic of Christmas this year, including supporting local businesses by doing their Christmas shopping in Orange,” Taste Orange executive officer Kim Currie said.
“Taste Orange and the Orange Business Chamber are very excited about bringing a wonderful Christmas Street Party to the community on December 10, which will feature many of the favourite activities from past years, as well as some new ones.”
