The Orange and District Pistol Club member took out the Women’s Sport 25m event at the NSW ISSF State Championships in Cessnock on the long weekend to win the trophy.
Cowling was in second place in the A grade event but finished in top spot after the finals with her score of 753.8.
She also finished sixth in the B grade Standard event with a score of 526.
Cowling was one of seven Orange club members who contested the state titles.
Anthony Thornberry had an outstanding meet taking out the D grade 10m Men’s Air title and finishing second in the B grade Junior Sport, the C grade Junior Air 60 and the D grade 25m Rapid Fire.
Helen Lord finished second in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol and fifth in the B grade 25m Standard Pistol and seventh in the A grade 25m Women’s Sport.
Orange made it a one-two finish in the D grade 10m Men’s Air event with Roy Jennison finishing second behind Thornberry.
Jennison was also sixth in the A grade 25m Centre Fire, seventh in the D grade 50m Pistol and 10th in the D grade 25m Rapid Fire.
Tanya Thornberry had some top 10 results finishing fourth in the C grade 15m Women’s Sport, sixth in the D grade 25m Rapid Fire and seventh in the C grade 10m Women’s Air.
Helen Johnson was ninth in the C grade 10m Women’s Air with her score of 302.
Brian Johnson, in B grade, was ninth in the 10m Men’s Air and the 25m Centre Fire.
Peter Lord took out eighth place in the D grade 25m Centre Fire and 10th in the 25m Standard.
Brian and Helen Johnson played other roles at the state championships with Brian acting as judge and Helen as scorer.
