The Central Western Daily spoke to a range of local sporting identities to find out what their new year’s resolutions are and what innovations they are hoping to see or aims they have in the next 12 months.

Dean Brus, pistol shooter:
New year’s resolution: “I want to get picked in the Australian team again.”
Hope to see/achieve: “I would like to see the Orange and District Pistol Club improve their 50m range target system to automatic turning targets.”
Jason Belmonte, tenpin bowler:
New year’s resolution: “To become bilingual.”
Hope to see/achieve: “To go one better (than in 2007) in every tournament I play in.”
Daniel Mortimer, rugby league player:
New year’s resolution: “No partying and no drinking until I have a starting position for Parramatta in the National Under 20s competition.”
Hope to see/achieve: “Improve my footy a bit more and put on a bit of size and weight so I can handle Sydney football.”
Robert Payne, golfer:
New year’s resolution: “To spend a bit more time with the (Duntryleague) juniors and lose 10 kilograms.”
Hope to see/achieve: “Just [see] a repeat of last year. Last year was one of my best years ever. And to see the course (Duntryleague) stay in the condition it’s in.”
Steve Priest, Waratahs cricket captain:
New year’s resolution: “To win a premiership with the Waratahs Cricket Club.”
Hope to see/achieve: “I’d like to see the Orange and Bathurst cricket competitions get back together.”
Michael Gray , Orange City rugby coach:
New year’s resolution: “To enjoy life and try and succeed at everything I do.”
Hope to see/achieve: “To go one step better (with Orange City) and win the (Blowes Menswear Cup) grand final.”
Beth Shea, Orange Hockey Inc president:
New year’s resolution: “To reduce the cost of hockey and keep us financially viable.”
Hope to see/achieve: “To keep hockey at a cost that allows families to play.”
