You'd be hard pressed finding a better 15-year-old footy player in the Central West than Bailey Peschka.
The Cabonne Roo was one of 25 rising stars selected in this season's Western Rams squad which will compete in the Andrew Johns Cup in 2022.
This was the Molong player's first year trialling for the team and said being selected had been a long-time ambition.
"It's been a dream for me for a few years to play Western Rams, so I was pretty happy about it," he said on his selection.
"The trials weren't too bad but it was certainly a challenge. I knew a fair few people there and how they played, so I was just trying to avoid what they do and do my own thing. I think I had a pretty good trials and thought I would get in. My first game was probably my best game."
During the weekend of trials earlier this month, Peschka slotted in at five-eighth, fullback and even got a run at lock.
"They don't know where to put me yet," he laughed.
"I'm pretty sure they put me at fullback because of my talk. I've got really good chat when I play football, but I've also got good skills to play five-eighth."
Fair to say things couldn't have gone better for him.
"I dreamed of doing something at night and I did it and happened during the game. It was to run the ball from five-eighth and dummy, then see a hole and go and then step the fullback and score and I did it," he said.
As well as playing for his beloved Roos, Peschka is planning on backing it up with the Molong Bulls next year as well.
"I just want to play as much footy as I can. I love it, I love being around the boys," he said.
Kurt Hancock coached the Western Rams to victory in the inaugural edition of the Andrew Johns Cup and while he will be in charge of the under 18s this year, he cast his eye over some of the under 16s as well during their training day at Wellington.
"I don't think the 16s have experienced anything like that before," he said.
"They gave some real glimpses in and around how talented that group could be. They are going to be big, they are going to be fast, they are going to be mobile, they are going to be full of running - they were very impressive. "
Orange players selected in the Andrew Johns Cup (u16s) were: Angus Buchan (Orange CYMS), Beau Hartley (Bloomfield Orange), Ajay Isbester (Bloomfield Orange), Lucian Jordan-Smith (Bloomfield Orange), Angus Thompson (Orange CYMS), Harry Wald (Bloomfield Orange), Charlie Westgeest (Orange CYMS).
