The CYMS trio were selected in the Western Rams Andrew Johns Cup squad for the 2022 campaign after a gruelling weekend of trials.
Second-rower Buchan was over the moon when he found out he had made the side.
"All three of us were really excited to be part of the squad. Charlie has had a real breakout year this season so it's great to see him being part of the squad as well," he said.
"I feel like I had a pretty strong trial and we all played well enough to make the squad.
"This was the first time we'd trialled for Rams, but we've all tried for a few different representative teams before, but this was probably our biggest achievement yet."
This year's selection process was slightly different to those in the past, with selectors narrowing down the 80-odd triallists to a group of 25, rather than a traditionally bigger squad.
Despite the individual delight that comes with this accolade, Buchan was quick to shine the spotlight on others.
"We definitely wouldn't be here without our coaches Mark (Buchan) and Dom (Westgeest)," he added.
"They've put in so much effort these past few years to get us to this spot and seeing all of us improve and be able to make this squad is great.
"It's great seeing Charlie make it because he's come a long way with his footy and become a great player and Gus has always been one of the better players in our comp."
But for Buchan, there is an added bonus to just being happy for your teammates.
"I think me and Charlie (centre) have always had a great partnership on the field and Gus (lock) has always been the heart of the team, so having these boys in the team will just make me feel a little bit more at home," he said.
"So it's great being able to play with them."
The under-16s Andrew Johns Cup is NSW's regional representative competition and feeds into the under-18s Laurie Daley Cup. Both were founded in 2018 with the Rams taking out the inaugural Andrew Johns Cup.
