Mayor Reg Kidd said the Shop Orange gifts cards were a successful way of encouraging people to shop locally but it turns out almost $400,000 worth are yet to be redeemed.
"The Shop Orange gifts cards were a very popular gift," Cr Reg Kidd said. "For people like me who don't do shopping as a recreational activity, it's easy to slip the card into your wallet or the back of that kitchen draw and then forget all about it.
"It turns out there is now more than $380,000 sitting unspent on these cards. This is money that could make a difference in our local business economy.
"Re-discover that gift card, spend more than $25 at a participating local store and you can be in the running for two $1000 daily draws, not to mention the two $10,000 draws."
Council has partnered with Business Orange to support businesses by offering Central West shoppers the chance to win cash prizes, simply by shopping in the Orange region this Christmas.
HitFM, TripleM, the Central Western Daily and the Orange App are also on board.
To enter the draw, all shoppers have to do is spend $25 or more in one transaction, scan the QR code and submit their details, or fill in an entry form and drop it into the box at the Customer Service counter at Orange Civic Centre.
