Announced on Monday, December 6, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier, Hon. Sam Farraway, said $2,621,696 would be ploughed into the Activation of Cabonne's Town and Villages.
"This project focuses on town activation works for Cabonne's two population centres - Molong and Canowindra - as well as the replacement of town and village entrance signage throughout the shire," Mr Farraway said.
It is envisioned that these upgrades will ensure that the offerings of the region continue to appeal to locals and that Cabonne leaves a positive, memorable impression on visitors to the LGA.
"These upgrades will leverage off each town and village's unique characteristics to improve wayfinding; while also providing residents and visitors with access to improved community infrastructure."
The vision is that these upgrades will continue to boost the offerings that the region has, which will not only appeal to Cabonne locals, but leave a "positive, memorable impression on visitors to the LGA, promoting the growth and prosperity of Cabonne and encouraging returned visitation".
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said rounds one through seven of the Resources for Regions project had been a huge success, delivering 149 projects - worth $345 million - to mining communities since 2012.
"Mining plays a very important part in the NSW economy, supporting tens of thousands of jobs across the state and it will continue to play a role in the Central West for years to come, which is why we're investing in the future of mining regions," Mr Toole said.
"The NSW Government is committed to supporting regional mining towns that supply our state with the precious resources, and I am grateful for Cabonne Shire Council putting forward these projects which will support the ongoing prosperity of the local community."
Part of the $2 billion Regional Growth Fund, Resources for Regions is designed to support the ongoing growth of regional centres; activating local economies and improving services and community infrastructure for regional communities.
