Orange Anglican Grammar school is a step closer to building more classrooms after receiving a $900,000 grant on Monday.

Member for Calare Andrew Gee said the federal government would provide $900,000 for the construction of a new building that will include four new classrooms and associated amenities.
Mr Gee also announced $135,000 in support for Orange Family Day Care on Monday. He said it will tackle a major shortage of family day care places in Orange and provide employment for new daycare providers.
Orange Anglican Grammar School principal Reverend Louis Stringer said the $900,000 from the Australian government's Capital Grants Program is the last lot of funding for the $7 million project.
Reverend Stringer said the new building will include four classrooms, student amenities, staff areas and an outdoor learning space.
He said it will cater to primary and secondary students and the school is working with Orange City Council to get the plans approved. He hopes the new building would be operational some time in 2023.

"The Orange City Council has been really supportive of what we've been trying to do," Reverend Stringer said.
He described it as "a bit of a linchpin" for the school and its other developments including the Agricultural Centre of Excellence, the senior study centre and the hangar.
Mr Gee said the new building would help the 500-student school to grow.
"It bodes well for the future of Orange Anglican Grammar," Mr Gee said.
"I commend the grammar school on the work [it is] doing and it is thrilling to see it growing and growing."
The Orange Family Day Care Scheme, coordinated by Orange City Council, has 15 educators who work out of their own home but about 160 children are on a waiting list for a place.
The $135,000, will be split over two years, to recruit potential new educators to create more child care places and help parents who work or study.
Mayor Reg Kidd supported the recruitment drive. "There are currently 15 Family Day Care educators, but there's enough demand to double that number," he said.
