The final polling booths around the vast Cabonne shire were tallied late Saturday night, with Canowindra (998 votes) and Molong Central (500 votes) the two biggest locations the public used to vote in the Local Government Elections.

Mr Pull, from Canowindra, enjoyed immense support from his community, earning a bumper 378 votes - almost 38 per cent of the first preference votes - to roll past a host of other candidates and effectively secure a place on council.

Mr Pull (560 votes) now sits as the third most popular candidate, with Marlene Nash (838) and Kevin Beatty (1370) the only two ahead, before iVote, postal and declaration votes are tallied.

The pre-poll votes from Molong and Orange have both been counted.

Along with picking up the most votes at Molong Central with almost half of the 500 votes up for grabs, Mr Beatty also proved popular at the pre-poll booths with 476 votes across both locations.

In total, 6369 votes across Cabonne have been counted, with around 10,000 expected as a total.

Nine of the 13 candidates will form the next Cabonne Shire Council when the counting is complete.

Independent candidates Marlene Nash and Kevin Beatty have shot out of the blocks in the race to form Cabonne's new council at the 2021 Local Government Elections.

Mr Beatty, the incumbent mayor, and Mrs Nash, also a current councillor, have polled strongly as the first votes were counted on Saturday night.

Initial counts of votes have been completed at Canobolas Public, Cudal Public, Cumnock Hall, Manildra Hall, Spring Hill Public, Spring Terrace Public, Eugowra Public and Yeoval Central polling booths.

Mrs Nash polled well at the Manildra Hall, taking 278 of the 403 votes, while Mr Beatty proved popular at Cumnock and Yeoval, topping the count at both booths.

Mrs Nash has the bulk of the votes, at time of print at 7.30pm on Saturday night, with 440 first preference votes, while Mr Beatty has tallied 294.

There has been 1852 votes out of the 10,062 counted.

Rocketing up the count, Jamie Jones recorded 189 of the 343 votes at Eugowra and trails Mr Beatty narrowly with 291 votes.

Nine councillors will be elected for Cabonne in 2021, with 13 candidates in the running.

Others polling well include Andrew Rawson (136) and Peter Batten (134).
