Sage and Elm pop-up on McNamara Street
The owners of the ethically-sourced, eco-friendly baby clothing shop Sage and Elm have set up a temporary pop-up inside one of the shipping containers in the McNamara Street carpark (near Hive and the Blind Pig).
Ray and Nicole Lewis explained that they began their shop online, before having stalls at the local markets.
Following their success at the latter, they moved into the pod on McNamara Street - which they will be operating out of until February.
"We've only been trading for a little bit of time. We sell baby and toddler clothes, shoes, tableware, bedding, accessories, and that sort of thing," Mr Lewis said.
"Our main focus is sourcing eco-friendly, sustainable, eco-conscious products. Everything that we get, we know where it comes from [so we] know that it's been produced ethically and there's no sweatshops and no forced labour [involved].
"So we know the products that we sell are quality material and are going to last. We want to sell products that people can... hand down to their family, like we did in the old days... So we're very, very conscious of where everything comes from and and the quality of our products."
Gazman opens Summer Street store
After constant delays caused by COVID, Orange's long-talked about Gazman store opened its doors at 194 Summer Street for the first time on Thursday.
The leading Australian menswear apparel brand will be open seven days a week and employ around five permanent staff members - including a store manager, regional manager Garo Iskenderian explained.
"We'd been looking to open a shop in Orange for a while. We have regional stores all over the country and probably the nearest one is in Dubbo. We found a lovely site and we opened up this morning," he said.
"Gazman as a brand has been around since 1974. It's an Australian, privately owned business, catering to the gentleman with good quality garments that are easy to wear and low-priced."
During its first ever morning of operation, the Summer Street store had already been "really busy" with customers, Mr Iskenderian added.
