The day pays homage to Ostini who died in 2018 after a battle with cancer and who was a long-time supporter of the Orange Cycle and Triathlon Club.
It will take place on December 11 at Gosling Creek Reserve and see women swim 200 metres, cycle 8.8km and run 2km, in an effort to raise money for the Cancer Council.
Although preparations have been underway for quite some time, planned training events have had to be cancelled due to the wet weather.
"Fingers crossed that weather is on our side for the Ladies Day triathlon," Dale said.
"In the past we've always been really well supported for this day and there's obviously still plenty of time for ladies to register and maybe get some friends on board."
While raising money is an obvious goal for the day, that isn't what it's all about.
"We don't ever go out with an aim of raising a particular amount of money. We put a donation toward the Cancer Council and people who participate are usually very generous with their donations," Dale added.
"It's more about recognising and remembering and the donations are a bonus.
"I don't think there's too many people in Orange who didn't know Sandy. She was a loyal club member and wife and mother.
"Sandy was a lady who always had a beautiful, beaming smile. She was happy, jovial and her support during racing was infectious and that's what this day is about, just having fun and laughing and enjoying the sport of triathlon."
And while the triathlon itself will be far from a walk in the park, Dale reminded ladies who wished to participate that help is available.
"With the swim, ladies can choose to do it with flippers, kickboard or floaties, however they feel comfortable swimming in the open water," she said.
"It's not about racing, it's about participation and actually giving it a crack and giving the sport a go.
"They can ride anything from an E-bike, a mountain bike, a road bike. Then just put on a pair of joggers and walk, jog or run the 2km."
Those taking part are asked to arrive at 3.30pm for a 4pm start.
