Prepolling opened on Monday with candidate Steven Peterson saying he had been contacted by electoral officials asking him to remove his sandwich board from outside a pre-polling venue.
Candidates Mel McDonell and David Mallard were also contacted. Dr Peterson said as a first-time candidate, it made it hard for him to advertise his ticket without the frame.
However, Dr Peterson said he received a message from Orange City Council CEO David Waddell on Tuesday giving him the all-clear to return the board.
Dr Peterson said he was initially told there was an issue with the board blocking the footpath.
