In the end it was the Tigers who ended up claiming their first ever win in the re-formed BOIDC competition when they found the last Centrals wicket on third-last ball of the match, taking the victory by just two runs.
ORC opening bowler Tim McKinnon came into the attack at the death to try and prevent Centrals from making the successful chase, and succeeded by having Kyle Nonnenmacher caught behind by Tom Judge.
McKinnon held his nerve after having a wide and a boundary leading up to the wicket ball.
It's a massive breakthrough moment for last year's Bathurst District Cricket Association second grade champions, who made the big decision to take the leap up into the BOIDC ranks this year with a young squad.
Now they have a win in just their second game.
ORC made their way to 9-176 runs from their 40 overs, led by a century partnership between Ben Cant (58) and Trent Fitzpatrick (49) for the fourth wicket.
McKinnon may have enjoyed the spotlight moment with the crucial final wicket, to finish with 3-48, but it was young speedster Tait Borgstahl who stood tall above the rest.
Borgstahl ended his day with 3-13 from his eight overs, picking up two maidens along the way.
CYMS (163) lost to ST PAT'S OLD BOYS (3-299) by 136 runs
NIC Broes has become the first centurion of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket 2021-22 season after belting 138 off 108 in the Saints' big win over CYMS at Riawena Oval on Saturday.
His innings included 12 fours and five sixes, helping the Saints post 3-299 off their 40 overs before Pat's bowled out CYMS for 163.
Cooper Brien hit 79 runs alongside Broes in a giant 179-run stand for the second wicket, posting the second highest partnership for any wicket since the BOIDC's reformation.
Broes' efforts with the bat come after claiming 5-5 with the ball in his eight overs against ORC in round one.
Broes has also become just the fourth person since the BOIDC's reintroduction to score a century and claim a five wicket haul in the same season (Ed Morrish and Hugh Le Lievre 2019-20, Dan Casey 2020-21).
Pat's had CYMS in all sorts of strife at 2-6 early before Dave Neil (53) tried to lead the charge for the hosts.
However, thanks to impressive spells from Angus Parsons (3-28) and Matt Fearnley (3-31), Pat's kept CYMS well short of the target.
All six Saints bowlers came away with at least one wicket.
CENTENNIALS BULLS (136) lost to CITY COLTS (5-308) by 172 runs
CITY Colts have got themselves off the mark this BOIDC season with a convincing victory against a depleted Centennials Bulls outfit on Saturday.
Three different Colts batsmen found their way to half centuries in a well-rounded batting performance to steer the boys in blue and black to a hefty total of 5-308.
Opener Henry Shoemark continued his brilliant start to the season with 60 runs, adding to his 96 in the opening round and his 86 against the Bulls in Bonnor Cup last month.
Dan Casey (71) and Aaron Seymour (68 not out) then delivered what would prove to be the decisive blow with their 75 run partnership, coming at a high strike rate.
Seymour's effort with the bat against his former club was especially impressive after several seasons away from the game.
Josh Toole also produced a brief but entertaining knock of 32 from 20 balls.
Tom Siede (1-23), Dylan Grimmond (1-37) and Zane Newham (1-44) were the Centennials wicket takers.
In reply the Bulls - who were without Blake and Kyle Aubin - mustered up 136 across 32 overs of chasing.
Bulls opener Ehsan Ahmad (37) kept the chase clicking along at a steady rate in the early stages after Kurt Toole's dismissal.
Mick Hutchinson (40) also chipped in strongly during the pursuit, as well as Daniel Bryant (25), but they would be the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Toole capped off a great all-round game with his bowling figures of 4-20, while Colts' new recruit Nick Babcock also flourished with the ball with 3-27.
ORANGE CITY (83) lost to RUGBY UNION (9-214) by 131 runs
Rugby's Sam Macpherson took five wickets in his side's big success on Saturday - his best haul in first grade - as the Bulldogs destroyed their Orange rivals by 131 runs at Wade Park.
And it could've been even better for Macpherson, had he not dropped a "pretty easy" catch from his own bowling.
Before Saturday's match, Macpherson's best ever club figures was a three-for, which he's achieved in each of the last five season.
The hosts won the toss and sent Bulldogs into bat, with the visitors notching up 9-214 off their 40 overs.
Imran Qureshi, who opened alongside Macpherson, topped the scoring with 43, while Fletcher Rose tried his best to restrict the Bulldogs batting order, taking four wickets.
The Orange City batting order never really got going, with Macpherson doing major damage to the Warriors middle order, dismissing Blake Weymouth (19), Shaun Grenfell (11), Fletcher Rose (three), Brett Causer (six) and Jarryd Seib (two).
It's an impressive start to the season for Rugby Union, now having won the two matches they've played, with the round two and three matches against Cavaliers and Centennials Bulls washed out.
BATHURST CITY (114) lost to CAVALIERS (8-194) by 80 runs
BATHURST City were not able to stop the Matt Corben show from delivering another high quality batting performance on Saturday, as the Cavaliers number three hit a match-winning 98 not out in his side's victory at George Park 1.
Corben shouldered the load for Cavaliers to help them reach 8-194 before the visitors had the Redbacks all out for 114 runs in 30 overs.
The only other Cavs batter to make a start was opener Hugh Middleton, whose 38 runs continued his solid start to the season alongside his unbeaten 80 in round one.
Perhaps the only disappointing aspect of Corben's day was that he was left stranded on 98 when the Cavaliers' full allotment of 40 overs was used up.
Joey Coughlan was the bright spot for Redbacks with the ball as he claimed 3-24, while Tom Lynch (2-36) was the other player to claim multiple wickets for the hosts.
Redbacks' chase got off to a poor start at 2-11 before Ben Orme (27) and Mark Day (17) tried to put some life back into the innings.
However, their back-to-back dismissals left Bathurst City at 4-55 and with too much pressure to overcome.
Muditha Adikari (22) would be the only other batter to break double figures as the Cavaliers bowling attack didn't miss a beat all day.
George Cumming was the other star of the show for Cavaliers on Saturday, producing excellent figures of 4-17 off 7.3 overs.
Opener Hugh Britton also had a great day out as he took 3-29 from his eight overs.
All five Cavaliers bowlers were wicket takers.
The Orange club are now two from two this season.
