Created with the assistance of a federal $60,000 grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the mural was an initiative of the Grow Molong group.
The artwork depicts Thomas Mitchell and his guide, Yuranigh, as well as the flora and fauna of the Molong area, including local wattle flowers and birds like the Eastern Rosella and the Australian Magpie - the symbol for many Molong sporting teams.
It was painted by local indigenous artists Michael Crook and Ricky Ah-See.
Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee will officially open the tank artwork at 1.30pm.
Later that afternoon from 3-6pm at the Molong RSL, Grow Molong will host a wine-tasting event for the "Save Molong" Community Defibrillator Project, that will see six defibrillators placed in the community.
Local Member, Phil Donato and Sam Farraway MLC will present the defibrillators at the wine-tasting, and all money raised from the event will pay the balance of the Office of Sport grant that enabled their purchase.
The event will feature food, wine from Printhie and Cumulus, music from classical guitarist Phil Moran, and an auction that will include canvas prints of many of the bird photographs used to inspire the water tank art.
Tickets are $60 per person. For tickets contact Les Dean on 0429 601 843.
