But in what is expected to be a boon for the region, the annual Gymkhana will be going ahead on Sunday, November 21.
Club member Jane Lenehan said the number of contestants could hit triple digits with riders expected to come from all across Western NSW on the day.
"We were lucky enough to get it in last year, but this year, lots of events have been cancelled so there hasn't been many equestrian or pony club events going on at all. We're one of the first pony clubs in the zone to be hosting a gymkhana, so we're quite excited about that," she said.
"Because we are one of the first ones, we're expecting the numbers to be quite good."
Riders will be between the ages of three and 24 and will compete in dressage, hacking, show jumping and sporting events.
"We're expecting the horses to be a little bit fresh and excited to be out and about," Ms Lenehan added.
"Kids are looking forward to participating in the events and because of that, we've had a lot of support from local businesses donating prizes for our champion riders and our feature events."
With the event set to take place at the Orange Showground, Ms Lenehan is anticipating a fantastic day of riding.
"It gives kids confidence, because pony club can be a pathway to progress further in the sport to state and national levels," she said.
"Last year we had around 60 riders and this year we're hoping to get that up to 80-100.
That's why we're excited to have it at the Showground because it's a really good facility that we can utilise with the great setup they've got there."
Those not competing who would like to watch the action unfold are able to come along, with the event expected to run from 9am to 1pm.
The competition will be operating under the guise of COVID restrictions, meaning anyone attending will need to sign in via a QR code and only double-vaccinated people will be allowed.
Pony Club members wishing to enter the event can register via the website Nominate.
