There's a simple solution: Do your Christmas shopping locally.
Two upcoming markets will give Orange residents the chance to pick up unique gifts for Christmas, and to find some stylish pre-loved clothing for the festive season at bargain prices.
First up is the Simply Orange Christmas market at Towac Park this Sunday, November 14, which comes after the hugely successful Simply Orange Spring Markets in October.
Open from 9am to 3pm, offerings will include arts and crafts, home decor, jewellery, candles, and body and bath products.
There'll be food trucks and entertainment for the kids, with five minute jumping castle sessions for $1, plus a dress up competition with five categories including best dressed stallholder, best dressed adult, best dressed teenager, best dressed aged 12 and under and best dressed baby .
The Big Man in Red himself will even make a couple of appearances. Santa will visit twice on Sunday, between 10am-11am and then 1.30 pm-2.30pm.
The following weekend, Sunday November 21, fashionistas won't want to miss Book Orange's inaugural Pre-Loved Market Day.
Held in the South Court area of the Civic Centre Precinct from 12pm-4pm, more than 30 stallholders will have a high quality selection of pre-loved clothing available at very affordable prices.
Book Orange's Bec Hammond says with so much textile waste ending up in landfill each year, the market is an ethical and environmentally friendly way to refresh your wardrobe.
The event is also about supporting community, with fundraising on the day for The Orchard - a Housing Plus- managed safe haven in Orange for women and children escaping domestic violence.
In addition to the funds raised, stallholders will have the opportunity to donate clothing at the end of the event to the women and children using The Orchard's services.
"We're really trying to support that crisis centre and women in children in need," Mrs Hammond said.
Those attending should bring an enviro bag or a basket and consider wearing tight-fitting activewear so it's easy to try on clothes.
Mrs Hammond said the market would be a lovely way for like-minded Orange women to get together.
"After COVID, it will be a day out, just bringing us all back together to have a nice day listening to tunes and shopping."
