"I'm painting lots of colour, trying to make things happier and prettier and to brighten our lives," she said.
The award-winning local artist's vibrant floral, landscape and abstract paintings will be among a smorgasbord of local art on show at the CWA Hall in Robertson Park next weekend as part of Artwork Orange's latest pop-up exhibition.
More than 30 artists will display their works at the free exhibition, which will feature wooden and metal sculpture, contemporary glass, digital images, mixed media, painting and drawings.
It's the fourth pop-up event from Artwork Orange, and follows a series of highly successful shows in July and at Christmas last year, and in April this year.
Organisers and longtime friends Robin Marshall and Jennifer Lacey started the pop-ups to help give amateur and hobby artists a forum to display their work to a wider audience normally unavailable to them.
They also want to make art accessible to the wider community.
"We really try to provide an exhibition feel that's not intimidating. We want anybody to feel they can come in and look at art and enjoy it," Ms Marshall said.
"It's a great community event."
Participating artists range from university graduates to enthusiastic amateurs.
"We have two people in the medical profession that make beautiful glassware. We have garden art - a retired gentlemen that makes unique items out of recycled cutlery and another retired gentleman who does unusual timber work such as troll houses."
For art lovers wanting to take some art home with them, there'll be something to suit all tastes and budget, with items priced from $5 up to about $800-$900.
For the first time, a number of the artists are participating in creating small artworks for a "guess the artist" competition to engage visitors and encourage them to examine the work more closely.
The exhibition opens next Friday evening, October 29 and will be open on Saturday October 30 and Sunday October 31 in the CWA Hall in Robertson Park.
It is supported by Orange City Council.
