From Friday October 29, you can catch 'Heal Country!' a celebration of Orange NAIDOC Week 2021.

The display, which has been developed with the Orange NAIDOC Week Committee, features Indigenous-led land regeneration and environmental education programs as well as traditional cultural practices that continue to inform custodianship of Country.

NAIDOC 2021 invites all Australians to embrace First Nations' cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of our national heritage.

Country is much more than a place. It sustains the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in every aspect.

It is the world around us, landscape, history, ecology, spirituality, culture and community.

We've been privileged to work with local Elders and project leaders to bring you a set of wonderful images and objects that demonstrate this deep connection to Country.

On 13 November we open 'Child's Play: Growing up in Orange in the 1950s and 1960s'.

This collaboration with the Orange & District Historical Society has been curated by local historian Liz Edwards and features stunning images of children at home, school and play from the Central Western Daily Negative Collection.

We also have some wonderful toys and games on display, newly digitised footage from the Museum's recently acquired CBN-8 film collection, and hands-on interactives for young ones and the young-at-heart.

To make way for these exciting new exhibitions, we'll be saying goodbye to two shows next week.

This weekend is your last chance to catch 'Cleverman', a behind-the-scenes look at the award-winning television series of the same name. 'Cleverman' is an ACMI touring exhibition.

Our hugely popular foyer display, 'Pat Ford: Pride of Orange' is also due to wrap up next week.

You'll have until Thursday October 28 to visit the exhibition and see original fight footage and objects, including Pat's very own boxing boots, with which he successfully regained the Australian and British Empire lightweight championships in 1954.
