The 32-year-old man is not named to protect the identity of the victim.
According to police the man and woman had been in a relationship for seven weeks when they got into an argument and she stopped responding to his messages on July 28, 2021.
He then started to accuse her of cheating, said he hacked her phone and told her to watch her back while out on Friday nights.
She called police after he stood over her preventing her from getting off a couch at her home.
Police arrested him and issued the AVO but upon leaving the station he saw her at The Metropolitan Hotel.
He walked up to where she was sitting, placed the AVO in front of her and said, "you know I drink here too."
The victim attended the police station and reported the breach and the police found the man in the hotel's smoking area.
Magistrate David Day fined him $550 and placed him on a 12-month Community Correction Order for intimidation, and he fined him $330 for contravening the AVO.
