Dean Taylor, 43, of Kurim Avenue, first drew the attention of police on April 11 at 11.50am.

Taylor was driving along Bathurst Road where he was stopped for random testing and although he passed the alcohol test he was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station for further analysis after failing a drug test.

An analysis of his sample was positive for methylamphetamine and cannabis.

"I smoked a cone four days ago," Taylor said when questioned about his drug use.

Magistrate David Day convicted Taylor, fined him $660 and disqualified his driver's licence for six months.

Mr Day also convicted Taylor, fined him $330, disqualified his driver's licence for six months and placed him on a 12-month Community Correction Order for driving while his licence was suspended.

Taylor's driver's licence had been suspended on May 24, but attracted the police attention on June 4 when they saw him driving on Adina Crescent and then take a number of quick turns.

Mr Day said Taylor knew he was suspended from driving and he had two previous disqualified driving matters on his record.
