Following news that the NSW Health Order would be altered from Monday, October 11, Orange City Council announced Wednesday that the pool would need to close from 7pm Sunday.
The next morning, NSW's new Premier Dominic Perrottet released a revised roadmap out of COVID which stipulated different rules surrounding indoor pools. From Monday, Mr Perrottet said indoor and outdoor pools could, in fact, be open.
However restrictions would still apply, including the one person per 4 sq metres rule. Indoor pools would also only be accessible for lessons, lap swimming and rehabilitation activities, not recreation.
After previously being told to close the Aquatic Centre to comply with the old roadmap's rules, Council was still in discussions over how to pivot to the new health orders on Thursday afternoon.
This meant that Council were unable to confirm with the Central Western Daily by deadline whether the pool would still need to close from Sunday - as was previously reported.
