Tragically, another person in Dubbo has also died with the virus.
This comes a day after Orange recorded its first new case in a week. That person, who was a household contact of the COVID case reported last Tuesday, was not in the community while infectious.
On the same day, there were 23 new locally acquired cases in the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD).
Up to 8pm Monday night, the eight new cases for the district were identified in Dubbo (5), Narromine (2) and Cowra (1). Four of the Dubbo LGA cases are in Wellington.
There was also another death in Dubbo linked to the virus - a man in his 70s who had received one dose of vaccine and had underlying health conditions.
In total, there have been 12 deaths recorded in WNSWLHD.
In total, there has been 1414 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in WNSWLHD.
As of October 3, over 95 per cent of Orange residents aged 15 and over have received their first dose of a vaccine, while 72.6 per cent are fully vaxxed.
Across the state, there were 608 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, and seven deaths - including the person in Dubbo.
The other six people were from Sydney LGAs. Five of them were not vaccinated.

There have now been 385 COVID-related deaths in NSW sine June 16, 2021.
In the last 24 hours, stay-at-home orders have been were lifted in the Cowra LGA (from 12.01am on Tuesday, October 5).
Cowra went back into lockdown just over two weeks ago when a nine-year-old boy contracted the virus and was infectious in the community for more than two days.
