More than 4000 people received their first dose of Pfizer of AstraZeneca at the DPI building three weeks ago, and Western NSW Local Health District chief executive, Scott McLachlan, said the "vast majority" of those people have come back for second doses this week.
"It has been an incredible success and I expect to see the vaccination rates in Bathurst and Orange jump significantly after this week," he said.
"We know we're rocketing our way to 70 per cent vaccination in Western NSW and that's positive."
The second dose hub this week was only available to those who received Pfizer the first time the ADF came to the city.
The news also came as Mr McLachlan said more people would now be eligible for two types of vaccines.
"We can't let ourselves think this is going to be over when the state opens up at 70 per cent vaccination," he said.
"We know we're rocketing our way to 70 per cent vaccination in Western NSW and that's positive. But we know that we'll continue to see case numbers going up in coming weeks and months.
"Two very safe and highly effective vaccines are now available for everyone over the age of 60."
Mr McLachlan added that Western NSW is "well placed" to handle a rise in COVID cases once the state opens back up in October.
"Over the last 18 months we've been doing a lot of work to make sure we have extra teams available to do the public health contact tracing, the test, trace and isolate and quarantine process and that's crucially important and will be in coming weeks and months as things change," he said.
"We've scaled up our COVID care in the community support team and our social, emotional wellbeing services to help people isolate."
