The Western NSW Local Health District is reporting a significant jump in new COVID cases, prompting an extension to the lockdowns in Bathurst and Dubbo.

On Thursday, health authorities recorded 43 new locally acquired cases for western NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
Yesterday, the region's numbers were 24.
There were no new cases for Orange, Cabonne or Blayney LGAs. The new cases were recorded in Oberon (12), Bourke (7), Cowra (6), Dubbo (4), Wellington (4), Bathurst (3), Walgett (3), Narromine (2), Mudgee (1) and Gulgong (1).
The new 43 cases brings the Western New Local Health District's (WNLHD) total COVID numbers to 1283.
Across the state, there were 941 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Another six people had also died with the virus - four men and two women, all from Sydney LGAs.
Three people were in their 70s, two people were in their 80s, and one person was in their 90s.
Four people were not vaccinated and two people had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
There have been 337 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 393 in total since the start of the pandemic.
Across NSW, 86.7 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 62.9 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Tuesday, September 28.

There have been 56,500 locally acquired cases reported since June 16 when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
The total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 62,164.
Changes to stay-at-home orders for regional NSW LGAs
Stay-at-home orders will be extended until 11 October for a number of local government areas (LGAs) in regional NSW due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health risk.
Stay-at-home orders will be extended for the following LGAs until 11 October: Bathurst Regional, Bourke, Central Coast, City of Cessnock, Dubbo Regional, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwaree, Kiama, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Lithgow, City of Maitland, City of Newcastle, Port Stephens, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional, City of Shellharbour, City of Shoalhaven, and Wingecarribee.
Due to recent transmission of COVID-19, stay-at-home orders will be introduced for the Snowy Monaro LGA from 3pm today (Thursday) for seven days. These stay-at-home orders also apply to anyone who has the Snowy Monaro LGA since 22 September.
Stay-at-home orders will be lifted, as scheduled, from tomorrow, Friday October 1, for Mid-Western Regional, Hilltops and Walgett LGAs.
For the Central Darling Shire Council, stay-at-home orders will be lifted from tomorrow, with the exceptions of Wilcannia and Menindee. Stay-at-home orders will be extended in Menindee for a further seven days and in Wilcannia until 11 October.
