None of the new cases were in Orange, Cabonne or Blayney, after all three LGAs recorded new cases earlier this week.
The man who died with COVID in Dubbo was included in Wednesday's COVID figures after the Western NSW Local Health District (WNLHD) reported his death yesterday.
According to health authorities, he was in his 40s and died at Dubbo Base Hospital. He was not vaccinated and had underlying health conditions.
The 24 new cases for western NSW were identified in Wellington (16), Cowra (5), Oberon (2) and Walgett (1).
These latest cases bring the WNLHD total COVID cases to 1240.
Across NSW there were 863 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Including the person in Dubbo, there were another 15 deaths across the state - only one of them had received both doses of a COVID vaccine. Nine of those who died were completely unvaccinated.
Across NSW, 86.2 per cent of the over-16 population has received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 61.7 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59pm on Monday, September 27.
