The city had the third highest number of home claims due to wild weather up to late August, 2021, according to the NRMA's latest edition of its Wild Weather Tracker.
Albion Park recorded the most severe weather home claims for winter.
Regionally, the Central West ranked seventh with 4.6 per cent of claims in the state, which was led by Wollongong and the Illawarra with 25.7 per cent of claims.
The data was released by NRMA Insurance ahead of the start of the storm season, which Orange City State Emergency Service deputy unit commander Callum Cope said starts from now until March or April.
"This year has been reasonably busy, we've had a number of severe weather events come through Orange," he said.
As a result he said the SES unit has responded to calls for roof damage, fallen trees and some flood damage.
Mr Cope said the SES also had a big year helping NSW Health at its COVID clinics and the volunteers also attend major traffic crashes and help police on land searches and various other jobs.
He said the 40 volunteers are following COVID precautions such as social distancing, mask wearing, increased hand washing.
However, he said weather continues to lead to the most call-outs, with about 10 to 15 houses across the region losing their roofs each year and currently the high water table is causing trees to lose branches.
With storm season around the corner Mr Cope is urging people to trim trees, check their roof and gutters are maintained, secure items such as trampolines and outdoor furniture and if there is storm damage that requires assistance call the SES on 132 500.
In addition winter damage, Orange was the third most wild weather affected town in the Central West and Far West according to home claims data for the past year.
The city came behind Dubbo, which was also the fourth most impacted town or suburb in NSW; and Parkes, which was ranked sixth in the state for the past 12 months.
Following Orange, Forbes and Broken Hill rounded out the Central West's top five for claims.
