The stream has included daily updates from Western NSW Local Health District chief executive Scott McLachlan, Mr Saunders himself as well as police officials and others working to stem the COVID outbreak.
During these livestreams, journalists from news organisations from around Western NSW - including reporters from the Central Western Daily - have been in attendance and allowed to ask questions on behalf of the public.
Although the briefings will continue in some form, Friday marked the final day these meetings would be live-streamed to the public.
Speaking on the decision, Mr Saunders said: "We've now come through what has been the emergency part of the situation.
"This has been a really good way of providing that one single piece of information to people right across the local health district. At this point in time, although things will continue to evolve over days, we figure that actually having to be here every day to see our faces isn't needed. Every day at midday I will continue to provide a daily update."
He added that the LHD would continue to provide all the information that it currently provides.
"It's just that you won't get to see my mug or Scott's mug every single day," he said.
"I just wanted to flag that. We think it's been a really good way of making sure you've had one single source of information and we will continue to do that, it's just that we won't necessarily be here every day.
"Hopefully you can appreciate that."
Friday marked the 45th conference that was held in this format and has provided information which has not readily been made available during the 11am state-wide conferences.
Mr McLachlan said that he will still continue to do the virtual media calls on a daily basis "through next week."
"I think they've been a great solution while we've had the emergency and the high outbreak and the need to communicate on a regular basis," he said.
"I'll still be continuing with the virtual media conference with all the media outlets throughout the regions and we will be posting information on our websites throughout the day to identify updated information. Those will continue with regular updates with the health perspective, so nothing changes from that.
"We really appreciate the intent and interest from everyone around getting regular updates, but also helping to keep our community safe over the last six weeks."
