However, with many of those businesses being badly affected by state-wide stay-at-home orders, Newcrest Cadia Mine and Orange360 are partnering to launch a new initiative, the Spin and Win Giveaway to boost the tourism and hospitality industry.
The initiative will go live at Orange360.com.au on September 27 and is made possible through $220,000 from Newcrest's $20 million Community Support Fund, which was established to help with the challenges associated with the pandemic.
Orange360 general manager Caddie Marshall said the lockdowns have been difficult for many operators.
"With this funding, we're aiming to build on what we achieved last year, when our previous Newcrest funded Staycation Giveaway injected $120,000 into the local economy," she said.
There are 115 businesses directly participating in the latest initiative, and the program will also benefit more than 100 extra businesses that are included through Think Orange Region Gift Cards.
It is expected to inject $220,000 directly into the Orange economy through more than 1500 prize pack ranging in value from $10 to $800.
Prizes will be allocated into two categories based on postcode, with some for Central West residents to enjoy in the region and others being shipped around Australia to experience a taste of Orange at home.
Cadia Valley Operations general manager Aaron Brannigan said the Newcrest workforce enjoys the spoils of this industry in normal times and see this as a way to provide a vital restart to tourism and hospitality.
