Five organisations in Orange will receive funding from Orange City Council under its Sports Facility Partnership Program.
The funding has been recommended for approval at council's next meeting on Tuesday night.
The Orange District Football Association will receive $15,000 toward a $69,000 plan to install a digital scoreboard at its marquee pitch, Bernie Stedman Field at Sir Jack Brabham Park on Huntley Road.
ODFA president Tony Mileto said they had already secured $39,000 toward the project from the Orange Ex-Services' Club.
He said the club would provide the remaining $15,000 either from its own resources or by seeking another grant.
"We want to get it up before the start of next season," he said.
"My understanding is it doesn't require a development application for a scoreboard."
He said the electronic scoreboard had the capacity to include advertising which could be further used to raise money for the sport in Orange.
Mr Mileto said the next project at the site was to secure about $150,000 for better lighting at the ground to allow them to play night games.
However, he said he understood that would require an electricity and substation upgrade.
"Bernie Stedman Field is a premier soccer ground in Orange," he said.
The Orange Indoor Tennis Club will receive $15,000 toward upgrading the lighting for five courts.
The club is also in negotiations with the council over a low-interest loan for more work at its centre.
The Orange and District Softball Association will receive $9920 for the extension of shelters on two diamonds and the installation of a shade sail and protective curtain at its canteen.
Securing new goals by the Orange Hockey Inc. has been boosted with funding from the council under the program.
It will receive $9080 for the purchase of two FIH standard hockey goals.
Meanwhile the Orange Cycle and Triathlon Club will receive $1000 for a large pop-up marquee.
