The worst thing that could happen to small businesses is opening too early and then going into lockdown again.
Sure, it's not our fault if six blokes come down from Sydney and bring COVID, but it is our fault if we push to reopen before our community is sufficiently double-vaccinated to minimise the risk of runaway infection.
Opening our LGA early - as the Mayor and Cr Taylor advocate - carries a high risk of a crash landing for everyone.
We have active cases, COVID fragments in our sewerage and a regional health system with very few ICU beds.
Things are tough enough for small business.
Let's listen to the experts, bite the bullet, get vaccinated, ride this lockdown out and make it the last one.
