Matt Huggins had always been a keen music listener, but whenever he tuned into the commercial radio stations he felt they lacked a number of vital elements.
"I've spent quite a few years listening to the other stations in Orange.... and I noticed that they sometimes can play the same song twice in a day... and they tend to have a lot of ads," he said.
"Whereas, I will try and avoid playing the same song more than once inside a day."
Set up just two months ago, the radio station Hugstar15, runs through a smartphone app which can be downloaded for free through your phone's app store, and mostly plays a mixture of 80s and 90s rock and pop.
"Pretty much all my life I've loved music and always dreamed of one day owning my own radio station or being a part of one," Mr Huggins explained.
"I just enjoy playing music."
Back in June this year, he began looking into the logistics of setting up a station of his own and was surprised to learn how easy it all was.
After purchasing the licences necessary to play copyrighted songs to the public, he went about setting up a standalone app.
Pretty much all my life I've loved music.
- Matt Huggins
In the initial months, Mr Huggins had mostly just friends and colleagues listen in to Hugstar15 while he trialled the new project and took on feedback, but now he's ready to launch the radio station to a wider public.
"On a Saturday, I play 24 hours of 90s music, on Sunday I'll do 24 hours of 80s music, and then during the week it's mainly rock and pop music from the 80s to now," he said.
In addition to the Hugstar15 app, the radio station can also be accessed through the Radio King website.
