Police have re-opened the lake to the public after shutting it on Saturday due to the number of people at the reserve in breach of COVID lockdown public health orders.
Central West Police District Inspector David Maher said police would continue to patrol the lake this week to check people there were compliant.
He said police issued warnings on Saturday to people who were outside the five kilometre zone.
"It was very busy," he said.
Inspector Maher said police did not issue infringement notices on Saturday due to the high numbers of people there.
"A number of warnings were given," he said.
Inspector Maher said Mount Canobolas was also a no-go zone for Orange residents as it was outside the five kilometre zone.
He said police had issued 32 infringement notices to people in Orange in the past 10 days.
Inspector Maher said that included people not wearing masks in public and for people being from outside the Orange local government area.
He said police were now patrolling all public transport, including flights, coming into Orange.
Inspector Maher said people found to be from outside Orange without a valid reason had been sent home.
He said under the lockdown rules Orange local government area residents can visit the lake but only people who live within five kilometres of the site.
That rules out most of the population with only some areas on the western side of town inside the zone.
