Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, Western NSW Local Health District chief executive Scott McLachlan said steps were being taken at the hospital to protect patients and staff.
"One of the new cases in Orange was a renal dialysis patient that was being dialysed in Orange on a regular basis and had contact with the previous case that we've announced of a case from Parkes that was being dialysed in that dialysis unit in Orange," he said.
"We're taking some extra steps to make sure we can test very regularly the other patients and staff in that unit to try and get in front of a potential spread in a really critical environment."
The renal patient is now in Orange Hospital, but they are not in ICU.
Of the five COVID-positive cases announced on Wednesday, one was a food delivery driver.
"Our contact tracing and public health teams have done an assessment on how food was delivered," Mr McLachlan said.
"It was definitely delivered in a contactless way as they all should be. It's not classed as a high risk point of transmission, so that's not the area that we're concerned about.
"We're still doing some follow up with how the food was picked up and any conversations and lingering timeframes that we might need to be worried about there. We will continued to do that in the next 24 hours."
Red Rooster in Bathurst Road on August 20 between 6.55pm and 7.05pm, McDonald's in Bathurst Road on August 20 from 5.55pm to 7.05pm as well as between 7.40pm and 8pm and McDonald's North in Farrell Road/ Northern Distributor between 5.55pm and 6.05pm on August 19 were all identified as venues of concern on Tuesday.
"We know the vast majority of those have been infectious in the community for the last week," Mr McLachlan said of the cases in Orange.
"In the last 24 hours of the five cases there was definitely two of those infectious in the community and one of those for more than 48 hours. Those locations of concern that have been identified will likely continue to rise."
There have now been 12 cases of COVID detected in Orange during this latest outbreak.
