7-Eleven team members in Orange test positive for COVID

The Central Western Daily understands the team members aren't part of the seven already positive cases currently battling the virus in isolation in Orange.

The new cases come on the back of renewed calls to get tested.

A spokesman for 7-Eleven told the CWD: "We've had team members test positive in Orange."

Exact details on the new infections will be confirmed at Wednesday's 11am press conference in Sydney, where it's expected Orange's official numbers will rise.

Earlier on Tuesday, Orange residents were urged "not to worry" despite a health-related incident at the Molong Road service station.

On the morning of August 24, police were seen at the 7-Eleven in Molong Road. The petrol station was then closed off.

"We're aware of the incident and working with (NSW) Health to take steps to make sure all the appropriate safeguards are in place around that location and around an individual who was there," Western NSW Police Commander and Assistant Commissioner Geoff McKechnie said.

"We want to reassure the community down there, don't worry too much about it. We have the situation in hand in Orange.

"It's a situation that has developed out of the pandemic response and we're just making sure that everyone is ok and people are getting the appropriate assistance they need."

Assistant Commissioner McKechnie said police, alongside NSW Health, will "sort out any further action that's required on it".

He added compliance to the NSW Health stay at home orders was still an issue across the Western Region.

"It's just that movement, it's people not being where they need to be, particularly at night, not staying put," he said.

"We're also seeing some small breaches by people who actually have COVID or are very close contacts of people with COVID."
