In an update on Public Health Order enforcement, Deputy Commissioner Mick Willing, Regional NSW Field Operations, said that in the 24 hours leading up to Wednesday morning, more than 100 PINs had been issued across regional NSW.
"My message to people in the wider Sydney Local Government Area, do not travel to regional areas unless you have a proper excuse," he said.
"Just yesterday, 166 infringement notices were issued to people in regional NSW for being in breach of the Public Health Orders.
"I need people to pick up the phone and contact Crimestoppers. We literally are responding to hundreds of Crimestoppers calls every day."
The deputy commissioner added that police would be ramping up of their compliance operation into an enforcement operation.
"Hundreds of officers across police districts in regional areas are working with their counterparts in Traffic and Highway Control Command and the Police Transport Command to enforce public health orders and to do everything they can to keep you safe," he said.
"My message to you, if you're in one of those local government areas is that police are there to support you and help you through this difficult time."
He finished off his speech by praising the three Central West areas that went through a lockdown not too long ago.
"My last message to you is one of hope, if we work together, abide by the current orders that are in place we can have the stay at home orders lifted as soon as possible," he said.
"We saw that a couple weeks ago in the Cabonne, Orange and Blayney shires where the communities banded together as regional communities always do and within a week those stay at home orders were lifted."
