Former Orange hairdresser and identity Billie Henderson built the brick-rendered house, Casa de la Brisa in 1977 and said she was inspired by the architecture she saw during a holiday in Mexico.
"I decided to build something like it," she said.
"I loved the house, it's a very homey place, I had many, many happy years there.
"I love it, it's breaking my heart to sell it."
Ms Henderson worked as a hairdresser in Orange for 50 years and ran Madeleine Salone and said she had many parties, particularly pool parties, at the house.
She said the double-brick house was built by the late Rob Tilston.
"It's a very convenient house to live in, it's a real family home, I think," she said.
"I designed it myself to get a lot of sunshine facing the north, all the living area gets a lot of sun in the winter which is important in Orange.
"I managed it quite well after my husband died, I was there at the beginning of this year."

However, now aged 97, Ms Henderson decided it was time to downsize and she has recently moved into a retirement village.
One Agency director Ash Brown is selling the property and said Mrs Henderson cut his hair when he was growing up.
He said walking through the property brought him back to his childhood and some of the features from that era, such as the bathroom tiles, have come back into fashion.
"Everything in the house is original," he said.
"The stylist who went in and did that said that [with] the bathroom tiles that are in there, there are similar stuff back in tile shops to these.
"A lot of similar stuff to that is back in fashion. There's no doubt that it's returning."
He said the house has been on the market for just over two weeks and has gained a lot of interest, including an offer, although it was not accepted and he believes it can get more.
"It's like a time warp for some people," Mr Brown said.
He said a lot of people also know Ms Henderson and know where she lived.
"Billie is really an icon of Orange, a living legend of Orange, just a lovely person," he said.
