The owners of Anything Grows in Summer Street, Clare and Matthew Bremerkamp opened the kiosk this week in a two-week turnaround.
Mr and Mrs Bremerkamp opened the cafe on Tuesday as an extension of their existing business offering and said that at this stage they are only able to provide takeaway food and coffee from the kiosk.
However, Mr Bremerkamp said they are doing work on the cafe side of the business which will be a dine-in service.
"It was mentioned to us and we had to petition to council to get approval," she said.
"It's been very fast, that's why we need a little bit of time to get the dine-in going.
"The lake needed something good and we think we can do it. It will be nice for it to be a destination in its own right."
Mrs Bremerkamp said so far most of the customers have been dog walkers but spring and summer are just around the corner.
"We will run a kiosk style menu as well as a cafe style menu," she said.
"At this state it's takeaway only until we get the cafe up and running.
"The feedback we've had so far is that everyone is quite happy to have us out here, most people are just happy to enjoy the lake with a good coffee."
Mrs Bremerkamp said they will offer sausage rolls and pies they make themselves and will also serve scones and brownies that are popular at Anything Grows.
The cafe and kiosk will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 3pm and the couple will split their time between the two venues.
