The Orange, Cabonne and Blayney Local Government Areas were thrown into a seven-day lockdown on July 20, forcing Charles Sturt to initially close its Orange campus on Leeds Parade on Wednesday.

After revisiting the restrictions, Professor Germov says the university has decided its Orange campus and Bloomfield site will operate under "significant restrictions" up to and including July 27 - the proposed end date for the Orange lockdown.

Face-to-face classes have been suspended, while residential/intensive schools for the faculties of business, justice and behavioural sciences, and arts and education will transition to online.

Further to those changes, students and staff who have been in the Orange, Blayney or Cabonne LGAs since Saturday, July 17 - the date a positive COVID-19 case was infectious in the Orange community - must not attend any campus up to and including July 27, without approval. Restrictions will also apply to people who have been in affected areas.

Staff are being told to work from home, with exceptions for those required to support the limited services continuing on campus.

The interim vice-chancellor said students residing in CSU's on-campus accommodation in Orange will continue to do so.

"And we will support these students to follow government advice and COVID safe practices," he added.

"The health and safety of our staff, students and communities, both domestically and internationally, is of paramount concern to the university, and we will continue to liaise with our partners and appropriate bodies to assist in our response."
