The second day of Orange's lockdown, residents woke to find an impressive frost covering on Thursday morning as the mercury plummeted to -5.6 degrees Celcius at 5.40am, well below freezing.

At the same time, the feels-like temperature was -6 degrees.

The temperature didn't pass freezing until about 8.30am on Thursday morning.

The previous record for 2021 was on July 7 when we dipped to -5.1 degrees. While the record for July is -5.8 degrees on July 15, 2018.

The extremely cold morning will be our chilliest in the next seven days with rain returning over the course of the next three days, as water continues to spill over the Suma Park dam wall.
