Transport for NSW has advised that the removal of trees and widening of the highway on the Mitchell Highway in Vittoria East will result in changed traffic conditions.
Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and is expected to take four weeks to complete - weather permitting.
"Single lane closures, intermittent stopping and reduced speed limits will be in place during the work for the safety of motorists and workers," Transport for NSW has said.
Motorists are advised to allow for an additional five minutes of travel time to account for these delays.
The work is part of the Saving Lives on Country Roads project.
Official figures released by Transport for NSW show 297 people died on the roads in 2020.
