The 40-year-year-old was driving down Anson Street on Sunday when out of nowhere he heard a loud bang.

"I didn't see anything on the road, obviously because there is a pothole there was nothing there, and it felt like I had a car crash it was that loud and intense that I thought I'd run over something," he said.

"I pulled over to have a look and it was just a massive hole in the road. It popped two tyres and bent both rims."

In the more than two decades he has been able to drive, never has Mr Doueihi experienced anything like that.

"I've had a couple accidents when I was younger and I've never ever seen that much damage from a hole in the road," he said.

"I'm an experienced driver, but if it was someone young in a smaller car I honestly reckon they would've had an accident. I barely held the car straight and if someone was on the other side of the road at the same time it could've caused an accident.

"There's a footy field right there, and there are always kids there. If it had happened during the day you don't know what could have happened as it's a narrow road anyway."

Soon after this, he vented his frustration on Facebook.

This attracted the attention of quite a few people and seemingly those at Orange City Council whose Facebook account was also tagged in the comment section.

He drove passed the same stretch of road in his partner's car on Monday around 7.30am and it was still as big as ever.

But on his way to work near 10am, it was all patched up with fresh tar filling the hole.

"We have high registration to drive on safe roads and then you can just drive along into a hole the size of a small child and as soon as you put something on social media they're happy to go fix it, but if I'd called up and complained then nothing would've got done," he said.

"I couldn't believe it, it's just dangerous."

"In a couple of weeks the holes are back again, so as soon as the weather gets bad again the hole opens up."

Orange City were approached for comment on this story but at the time of publishing on Tuesday afternoon had not issued a statement regarding the pothole incident.
