Taylor McKeown is a Commonwealth Games champion and Olympics silver medallist but was imparting her knowledge on some eager kids this weekend.
"I can remember when I was growing up I swam at Australian Crawl in a town called Kombucha in Queensland and one of the first Olympians who came through our club who I got to meet was Jessica Schipper and I always looked up to her," Ms McKeown said.
"I definitely had my moments when I was younger being star struck, seeing these athletes who had competed at the pinnacle of the sport, which I always found was really inspiring."
And that is exactly the reason she came out to Orange, to inspire the next generation of swimmers.
"In Brisbane for example, every time we host the Queensland State Championships, you get the Olympic team that comes through and all the kids can see that with their own eyes and become inspired," she added.
"But it's kids who are born in these country towns really far west who don't get that opportunity as regularly."
The two-day event which attracted around 100 kids, was organised by SwimBetterHQ founder Steve Howell.
Mr Howell was a Bathurst swim coach until a couple years ago but the passion for the sport remained.
"The whole idea behind the business is to get high performance athletes out into reginal towns in Australia," he said.
"It's all about getting swimming built up in regional areas a bit better and getting kids into the pool."
